Osama O Ibrahim

Dr. Osama Ibrahim is a highly-experienced principal research scientist with particular expertise in the field of microbiology, cell biology, and bioprocessing for both bio pharmaceuticals, and food bio-ingredients. He is knowledgeable in microbial screening, culture improvement, molecular biology, genetic engineering, fermentation research (antibiotics, enzymes, therapeutic proteins, organic acids), biochemistry (metabolic pathways, enzymes kinetics, enzymes immobilization, bioconversion), and analytical biochemistry. He was Principal research scientist and external research liaison for Kraft Foods R&D with Universities for research projects related to molecular biology and bioprocessing. He holds three bioprocessing patents and several publications. After retirement from Kraft Foods he formed his own biotechnology company providing technical and marketing consultation for startup biotechnology in United States / Overseas and a key note speaker / workshop for both international food science and bio pharmaceuticals conferences. He received his B.S. in Biochemistry with honor and two M.S. degrees in Industrial fermentation and in Microbial physiology. He received his Ph.D. in Basic Medical Science (Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular biology) from New York Medical College. Since 1979 he is a member of American Chemical Society, American Society of Microbiology, and Society of Industrial Microbiology.

Abdeen Omer

Dr. Abdeen Mustafa Omer (BSc, MSc, PhD) is an Associate Researcher at Energy Research Institute (ERI). He obtained both his PhD degree in the Built Environment and Master of Philosophy degree in Renewable Energy Technologies from the University of Nottingham. He is qualified Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record within the water industry and renewable energy technologies. He has been graduated from University of El Menoufia, Egypt, BSc in Mechanical Engineering. His previous experience involved being a member of the research team at the National Council for Research/Energy Research Institute in Sudan and working director of research and development for National Water Equipment Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Sudan. He has been listed in the book WHO’S WHO in the World 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010. He has published over 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 200 review articles, 17 books and 150 chapters in books.

Mohamed Fawzy Ramadan Hassanien

Prof. Mohamed Fawzy Ramadan Hassanien is a Professor of Biochemistry at Zagazig University (Egypt). He is now currently working as a Professor at Umm Al-Qura University, king Saudi Arabia (KSA). Prof. Hassanien obtained his PhD (2004) in Food Chemistry from Berlin University of Technology (Germany). Prof. Hassanien continued his research in ranked universities in different countries such Finland and USA. In 2012, he appointed as a visiting Professor in School of Biomedicine, Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok, Russia). Prof. Hassanien published more than 180 articles and reviews in international journals with high IF as well as several books (Scopus h-index is 32).

Ian Martins

Dr Ian James Martins completed his school studies at Cyril Jackson Senior High School, Perth, Western Australia. He completed his Bachelor of Science in 1983 (Pathology, Biochemistry/Anatomy and Human Biology) at the University of Western Australia (UWA). In 1985 he completed his Master of Science in Clinical Biochemistry and completed his PhD in Physiology (1989) studying the role of high density lipoprotein (HDL) in diabetes. He has been the recipient of seeding grants (1985-2000) from the Raine Medical Research Foundation, Athelstan and Amy Saw Research Grant and Hackett Research Foundation. In the past 30 years as a Research Fellow at Edith Cowan University/UWA collaborations with the NHMRC, Commercial Industry, National Institute of Health (USA), Mc Cusker Foundation approx. 3.5 million dollars has been received for medical and scientific research. He has been conferred with the RICHARD KUHN RESEARCH AWARD-2015 ENDOCRINOLOGY AND METABOLISM. He is a reviewer for journals (40) and Chief Editor, International Journal of Diabetes Research (2016-2014). Germán Lobos

University of Talca, Chile

Dr. Germán Lobos (BSc, MSc, PhD) is an Associate Professor at Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Talca, Chile. He has a PhD in Management from the Université Montpellier (France) and a Master’s in Agricultural Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Professor Lobos focuses on economic simulation, productivity and risk management, as well as identifying and modeling subjective well-being, looking for indicators in order to design better public policies. He has been identifying risk factors, estimating indicators and modeling the cognitive component and affective well-being. Since 2013 he has been a member of the ‘Research Program of Multidisciplinary Excellence on Healthy Aging’ (PIEI-ES) at the University of Talca. Additionally he is Visiting Professor and Researcher at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. Güzin KABAN

Atatürk University, Turkey

Güzin KABAN received her Ph.D. degree from Atatürk University in 2007. She is currently a Professor in Department of Food Engineering at the Atatürk University, Erzurum, Turkey. Dr. Kaban is working on traditional cooked or fermented Turkish meat products. Co-author of six chapters in four published books, her studies have predominantly focused on the lactic acid bacteria, coagulase negative staphylococci and starter culture as well as volatile compounds of traditional meat products. She has more than 70 articles published in academic journals and more than 100 papers in international and national conferences.

Xu LI

Singapore, National University of Singapore

Dr Xu LI is a Senior Scientist at Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. He finished his PhD study in polymer chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore in 2001. He is an adjunct Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore from 2012. He has published more than 100 research papers and filed 15 international patents. Some of those patented technologies were successfully adopted by industry companies. As a principle investigator, he is now leading a research team on polymeric materials development for various applications, including controlled release, bioimaging, energy storage and food packaging.

Taha Rababah

Prof. Taha Rababah has completed his PhD at the age of 31 years from University of Arkansas/ Fayetteville (USA) in 2004. He has published more than 100 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute in several national and international journals. His research interests in food processing engineering and flavor chemistry; design and fabrication of food processing in different factories; chemical and physical food processing engineering; identification and characterization of phytochemicals; sensory science.

Baojun (Bruce) Xu

Dr. Xu is a Full Professor in Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC, a full English teaching college in China), Zhuhai Scholar Distinguished Professor, Program Director of Food Science and Technology Program, Associate Director of UIC Key Lab -Laboratory for Health Promotion Mechanism of Medicinal Food and Folk Remedy, author of 182 peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Xu received Ph.D in Food Science from Chungnam National University, South Korea. He conducted postdoctoral research work in North Dakota State University (NDSU), Purdue University, and Gerald P. Murphy Cancer Foundation in USA during 2005-2009. He did short-term (two months) visiting research in NDSU in 2012, and University Georgia in 2014, and followed by visiting research during his sabbatical leave (7 months) in Pennsylvania State University in USA in 2016. Dr. Xu is serving as Associate Editor-in-Chief of Food Science and Human Wellness, Co-Editor of The Open Bioactive Compounds Journal, and Guest Editor for special issues of Antioxidants and International Journal of Molecular Sciences, the Editorial Board member of around 20 international journals. He received inaugural President’s Award for Research of UIC in 2016.
